CanAlaska Buys Historical Manibridge Mine
04 Apr 2019

CanAlaska Uranium has agreed to purchase the past-producing Manibridge Nickel Mine, seeking to develop the well-located site and explore for additional contained resources. The site, located in the Thompson Nickel Belt in Canada, last saw mining operations in 1977. Exploration efforts in the years since have confirmed that the site and surrounding regions hold at least two new nickel mineralisation zones within 400m of the existing Manibridge deposit.

2007 drilling saw results of 16.75 metres at 1.38% Ni; 5.45 metres at 1.18% Ni; and 6.3 metres at 1.37% Ni, with subsequent drilling in 2008 revealing consistent nickel grades that exceeded 1.3% and indicated a series of larger-scale potential discoveries. More recent drilling by CanAlaska saw a highlight of 6.55m at 2.39% Ni and 0.03% cobalt, reinforcing the emerging picture of targets for further drilling.
